November 1927. Sandino to General Manuel Echevarria.
|
27.11.06
Sandino
Echevarria, Manuel
General -------:
I do not believe
that you should be in that position, because yesterday I was on the
mountain and I saw that the place you occupy is a hole. I think it
would be better for you to come and occupy a little house that is not
occupied which belongs to a Mr. Salgado and you can stay there until you
hear the firing from the outpost which will always remain in the same
place which is Antonio Salgado's. Then you will climb and occupy
the hill to reinforce said outpost. Make trenches so that when the
moment arrives you will be ready and the boys will not perish.
Besides these precautions are taken so that the enemy knows when one is
prepared and thus they have more respect, not because I believe they
want to come, and if they do come then we will break their heads but we
have to be prepared for any surprise that they might want to give us.

Esteemed brother:
Yesterday I was
talking with Blandon and he told me that for sure 600 Marines are going
to Chipote, 300 to the Camino de Piedras and the other 300 on the other
side of Nueva Segovia. I tell you this so that you will be on the
lookout. Do all that you can to divert this movement. I am
getting ready all the men that are available and suitable. Send me
some tobacco. I have nothing more to say other than that the
family is well. Everyone sends their regards.
