     I have received your note in which you gave me the news.  I am very interested in them and at the same time very thankful to you.  It appears that on the 26th of this month three columns left with distinct courses and one of these the General himself left, leaving me with his duties and representing him in all relations concerning the interests of our cause.

     I wait for you to give me all the information that you have, but perhaps these patrols are not permanent.  It appears that they are to represent the General himself to receive and dispatch communications from this encampment.

     I send this notice to you in order that you will send me all the latest developments that you have.
