Campo de Operaciones Militares, 25 de Abril de 1931.

Sr. Teniente Don Faustino Gonz?lez (Donde est?).

            Patria y Libertad

                 General /s/ Miguel Angel Ort?z

                           Jefe Expedicionario

FIELD OF MILITARY OPERATIONS     April 25, 1931.

Lieutenant FAUSTINO GONZALEZ     At his place.

Dear brother:

I am in receipt of your very attentive communication dated the 24th of this present month which I answer by way of Major JUSTO wishing all kinds of luck to you, to your family and to all the brothers.

I am very glad to know of your succeeding in the complaints made against all of you, I want to let you know that I was the Judge.  A note was sent to me from our Supreme Jefe at EL OJOCHE ordering me to investigate your case and if you were guilty, the case should be sent to Court Martial.  I took declarations from about 60 different witnesses and I had the luck to find out all about without any hard work and that is the reason why you are not guilty.

The complaints were made against you, don TIMOTEO and TOMASITO DUARTE.

I gave our Jefe personal information of you and he was very glad to find out the truth and that was no reason for said complaints.  He is very fond of you, and of Timoteo and Tonmasito and the rest of the family.

You, as much as don Tomasito and the rest of the family will always enjoy the same good reputation before our Army that defends the National Sovereignty of Nicaragua.

You want to be sure that the triumph is ours and we must fight with a great enthusiasm.

We must not be afraid to die, dead cannot be avoided with war or without war.

Your duty as authority of our Army is to make those people get enthusiastical and to stop crookedness even if we have to do it by machete.

These crooked people, when they get a BOLETA from the enemy they consider themselves that belong to the other part and they would not even inform us when the enemy approaches nor contribute with food stuffs or to grab a rifle.

It is not allowed to authorize anyone to get guaranties from the enemies not to let people who carry BOLETAS to serve as mail carriers for a detachment.  Services can be accepted but without let them know of anything that happens.

Now then, brothers:  Referring to the guaranties of Tomasito, I believe he always has them, as everything was denied and he will always enjoy the same considerations from our Army.

My regards to don Timoteo and his family.  It is possible that before I leave this zone I will drop to see you.

My regards to you and your family and to the rest of the brothers.

Your friend and brother of this country.

                    COUNTRY AND LIBERTY

General MIGUEL ANGEL ORTHES Y GUILLEN.

     Expeditionary Jefe.
