To my Compatriots:

The shameless imposition that the traitor Moncada tried to impose on those who far from personal ambition and full of faith enlisted with all ardor in the Liberal Army to defend the constitutionality of Dr. Juan Bautizta Sacasa rasps the nerves and hurts the humble.

I belong that class of men who ignore perversity in a political sense because I disowned such proceedings. For that reason when I enrolled in the Liberal Army I swore to defend with loyalty and patriotism the motto which it embodies. It is for this reason that after having seen what the press had to say I want to prove to my compatriots the cause for which I am in arms and will continue in arms.

First, I am a liberal by conscience and not for gain or privileges.

Second, I am loyal to my principles because military honor demands it in my humble conception.

Third, I do not admit order or disposition of any but a legitimate patriot who with his attitude demonstrates that he is defending the decorum of the Homeland and of the Party.

For the same reason as the usurping traitors and invaders do not represent legitimacy before the majority of my homeland, I renege and will continue with the followers of General Augusto Sandino as chief of said collectivity, because it is he whom in these moments represents the legality of the sons of Nicaragua.

It is for that reason that I am a Sandinista. My enemies will judge this attitude contrary to his desires, although they be good, but history will judge our conduct and justify the actions caused by the political harlequins - - - [remainder illegible]
